Don’t Miss our #JoinGEN1 Twitter Party on Monday May 2, 8pm EST
April 27, 2016

What do you get when you cross a cause very dear to my heart with my favourite social platform? A feisty host!

We are honoured to have been asked by the Canadian Women’s Foundation to host a party for social good, spreading the word about their Campaign to End Violence. The campaign aims to build GEN1 , the FIRST GENERATION to experience real gender equality. Because in case you’ve missed the wage battles, sexual assault discussion and statistics on violence, we’re not quite there yet. Let’s have a great chat about how to end gender inequality and the root of the issues affecting women and girls today—violence, poverty and limiting gender stereotypes.

GEN1 means:

  • The first generation free of violence. No sexual harassment or assault, no domestic abuse, no sex trafficking.
  • The first generation of economic equality. No gender wage gap, no glass ceiling, no girls afraid to show their brilliance.
  • The first generation of inclusive leadership. Leadership that collaborates and includes marginalized voices.

JoinGen1-1

For my kids sake, I want to imagine a world where equality is possible, and I invite you all to jump in on the #JoinGEN1 Twitter party on Monday May 2 at 8pm EST, 5pm PST, to talk about hope and win some amazing prizes! If you have no idea what I’m talking about and have never done a Twitter party please don’t worry. We have a full explanation HERE. You can also pop in and out – no pressure! You will need to RSVP at the bottom of this page to be eligible to win.

Can you IMAGINE if women were never underpaid again? If they were better able to leave abusive relationships? Or weren’t afraid to walk alone in the dark? Wow.

The Foundation kicks of its Campaign to End Violence on May 1, promoting GEN1 and the goal of creating the first generation to experience gender equality. Throughout the month-long campaign, you can show your support by joining discussions on Facebook and Twitter, attending Move for GEN1 or visiting WINNERS and HomeSense stores to Shop for GEN1. (I really like the sound of that!) The Foundation’s Shop for GEN1 product line is a seasonal collection of Indian bazaar-inspired home décor and fashion accessories and 100% of net proceeds support over 450 shelters and violence prevention programs across Canada.

The amounts don’t have to be much, and just look how much change they can effect!!

Sound epically amazing? We think so! Please join us on Twitter on Monday. Prizes will include seven sets of limited edition Shop for GEN1 products of $35-40 value. For complete rules and regulations please click HERE. You must reside in Canada to win a prize, but if you’re in the USA, Australia, Europe or elsewhere and you get a sense that equality is an issue… please feel free to join in and spread the word. We’d love to have you!
