Like paper towel for cleaning windows or Ziploc baggies for packaging up the Costco family packs.
And painting clothes. Didn’t remember painting clothes for any of us. Sure, I remembered to get paint, and brushes and rollers and pans. But I didn’t remember grubby, painting clothes.
My solution minded hubby came up with, well, a creative solution. It is a good technique, especially because we are a good ways away from any road, with no neighbours in site.
We paint in our underwear. We strip down, just the three of us, and do all the painting in our skivvies. I mean, they cover more than a bathing suit, right?
We got a little covered in paint, but our clothes stayed clean. And yes, hubby was a little distracted, especially when I was cutting in the baseboard trim, but it worked and the rooms where painted.
We still ended up sleeping on the floor of the living room, spending our first night here much as we spent our last night at the old house (weird that so quickly it becomes “old” to us) We fell asleep exhausted, and happy. Covered in primer and paint and ready to get set up tomorrow.
And to fall into my bed, even without the frame, after two weeks was soothing. It was returning back to a semblance of routine. It was coming back to life after weeks of waiting.
And our ears rung from the silence as we watched the stars come out through the window.
Our stars, our new saltspring island life stars.
