I am “2 cycles” into my DivaCup journey and there have been a few surprises along the way. Obviously the first surprise was the “OMG how easy is this” thing, but I want to drill it in again.
I was TERRIFIED of using the DivaCup. So terrified in fact that my DivaCup sat in its little box for weeks before I had the NERVE to try it. I had built up in my head so many ideas about what it would be like that I had made it into a nightmare. Within seconds of the first use, I realized what a dork I was. The DivaCup was about as scary as a puppy (i.e. not scary at all)
Here… check out a few other things I have learned from my second cycle experience below.
I think you will agree with me that the more people you talk to about it, the more people you realize already use the DivaCup. It is like a secret army of sustainable, no leakage menstrual cup wearers walking among you.
My second cycle was as epic as the first and I couldn’t quite get over the fact that for my whole period it didn’t seem like I had my period at all. There was no “dampness”, no icky pads to rollup and toss in the bin, and no uncomfortable tampons to remove. No worry about “slippage” and “staining” overnight… no worries at all.
But this cycle I had to experience LEAVING THE HOUSE … but it was no big deal either. I just removed, wiped cleaned, and popped it back in. No fuss no muss.
I think the biggest thing I have learned about the DivaCup so far is that it is really no big deal at all. Aside from it being “more natural” in terms of the whole sustainability factor, it just seems “more natural” to my body as well.
So, Diva sisters… lets talk. Who of you out there is already a DivaCup convert… and for the rest of you, what do you need to know to become one?
